Overview
The client’s New Campus East (NCE) Active IT Program was established to provide the infrastructure services required to build out and maintain the NCE facilities. The Quality Assurance Engineer provides independent review, analysis, and verification to ensure existence and adherence to quality processes and best practices relative to hardware/software installation in support of standards that meet mission requirements. The Quality Engineer collects, measures, analyzes, and reports quality related data in support of quality acceptance.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
The JrQuality Assurance Engineer responsibilities will include:
- Verify facility contractors provision building floor space per agreed specifications related to electrical and safety criteria
- Review/inspect cable signal measurement quality records and evaluate results
- Review mechanical, engineering, architectural ANSI B, D and E sized drawings with Visio or AutoCAD tools and ensure schematic drawings, floor plans, cut sheets and rack elevations are accurate and genuinely reflect the installation prior to entry into the Archibus/Oracle database including rack/floor location
- Perform independent installation verification/validation in accordance with BICSI, EIA/TIA or other related applicable standards/requirements including visual inspections of equipment rack installations to verify adherence to best practice/electrical code/regulation regarding mounting, cabling, (including power) and labeling
- Conduct site surveys and confirm that equipment is installed, stenciled, grounded, cable plant connected and secured in accordance with EIA/TIA 942.5, 455, 568B, 569, 606 and 607, as required by the site plan and BICSI guidance
- Provide status and issues to teammates and project lead; elevate concerns as warranted
- Liaise with AIT Engineering elements on quality assurance matters
- Must conduct daily walks of job site and update status reports
- Document, recommend, and implement corrective actions when necessary
